The Anonian

Squirrels and humans both strive to collect an abundance of nuts. The squirrel works alone, frantically running around and painfully collecting each nut. Meanwhile, the humans work together as a community to discover new and innovative ways of collecting. This leads to farming and a large surplus to be shipped and shared with other communities. The squirrel is a hoarder, the human is not. Each squirrel is a threat to other squirrels, while each human is an asset to others around.

If farmers refused to sell their excess food to the rest of society, they would be menaces to mankind. They would have used up precious land and resources only to keep everything for themselves. Being that they grew a surplus, and could never make use of all of it, the rest of society would have to watch as the food slowly rots and withers away.

If doctors were to decide to hide their medical knowledge, declining help to those who needed it, they, too, would become menaces. The same goes for automobile manufacturers, oilfield companies, clothing companies, and the like. When they refuse to give back to society and choose to hoard precious resources, they become no better than squirrels. They become dangers to society.

Perhaps the same concept applies to hoarding money.
