The Anonian

A large number of people rely heavily on only one path in life. They focus solely on programming, or sales, or a college degree. Perhaps they do not start out that way, but each day, as they slowly grow more and more comfortable with their position in life, they put one egg after another into the same basket.

Years later they ask themselves why they never got rich, why they never got the chance to travel, why they never started that BBQ sauce company. The answer is a simple one: They put all of their eggs into one basket. Once they reached a point of security and relaxation in their lives, they settled down there and never pushed forward.

I will admit that putting all of your focus in one area almost always provides a nice house, a decent wage, and a sense of security. At the same time, I will argue that it almost never provides the path to riches. Rising to the top requires an enormous amount of luck.

In conclusion, the more lures you cast in life, the more fish you reel back in.
